Privacy Policy

Who We Are

Outrova is an iOS app developed and operated by Outrova ("we," "us," or "our"), reachable at support@getoutrova.com and getoutrova.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights with respect to it.

Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

• Saved locations — names and coordinates of locations you save in the App. This data is stored locally on your device using Apple's standard storage (AppStorage/UserDefaults). It is not transmitted to our servers.
• Unit and display preferences — your settings choices (temperature units, wind units, etc.) are stored locally on your device only.

Information collected automatically:

• Device location — only when you explicitly use the "use my current location" feature, and only for the purpose of fetching weather data for that location. Your coordinates are transmitted to Open-Meteo's weather API to return a forecast — they are not stored by Outrova, not logged, and not retained after the request completes. We do not build a history of your locations. Apple controls whether location access is granted and you can revoke it at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy → Location Services → Outrova.
• Anonymous usage data — we may collect aggregated, non-identifiable analytics (such as app crash reports via Apple's crash reporting) to improve App stability. This data cannot be used to identify you.

Information we do not collect:

• Your name, email address, or account credentials (the App has no accounts)
• Payment information (all payments are handled by Apple)
• Precise location history or location logs
• Any data for advertising purposes

How We Use Your Information

We use the minimal information described above solely to:

• Fetch weather forecast data from Open-Meteo for locations you specify
• Display weather data and suitability scores within the App
• Improve App stability and performance through anonymous crash reports

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the App as described.

Third-Party Services

The App communicates with the following third-party services to provide its features. In each case, only the minimum data necessary (typically location coordinates) is transmitted. No personally identifying information such as your name, email, or device identifier is sent to any of these services.

• Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) — Weather forecast data. Coordinates are sent to retrieve forecast information. Open-Meteo data is provided under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Open-Meteo does not receive personally identifying information.
• AirNow API (airnow.gov) — Air quality data for US locations. Coordinates are sent to retrieve local AQI readings. AirNow is operated by the US EPA. This feature only activates if air quality data is available for your location.
• National Weather Service (weather.gov) — Severe weather alerts for US locations. Coordinates are sent to retrieve active alerts. Operated by NOAA, a US government agency.
• NASA FIRMS (firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov) — Near real-time active wildfire and fire hotspot data from NASA's MODIS and VIIRS satellites. Location coordinates are used to retrieve fire detections near your destination. NASA FIRMS data is provided under NASA's full and open data sharing policy. This feature is available to Premium subscribers only.
• RainViewer (rainviewer.com) — Radar map imagery. The App fetches a public radar tile timeline from RainViewer to display the radar map. No user data or coordinates are transmitted to RainViewer — only publicly available map tiles are downloaded. Use of RainViewer data is subject to their terms of service and attribution requirements.
• Apple MapKit & MKDirections — When you use the Route feature, your origin and destination coordinates are sent to Apple's mapping service to calculate a driving route. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Apple CLGeocoder — When generating a route, waypoint coordinates are sent to Apple's geocoding service to convert them into readable location names. This is also governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Apple In-App Purchases — Subscription billing is handled entirely by Apple. Outrova does not receive or store your payment details.

We do not integrate any advertising SDKs, social media trackers, or data broker services.

Website (getoutrova.com)

The Outrova website at getoutrova.com is a static informational site. It does not use cookies, analytics scripts, tracking pixels, or any form of user data collection. The site does not set any cookies on your device.

The site loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.google.com). When your browser requests a font file, Google's servers may log the request including your IP address. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. No other third-party requests are made by the website.

Data Storage and Security

Your saved locations and preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's standard on-device storage. This data does not leave your device except to the extent needed to fetch weather data from third-party APIs (coordinates only, not names or other details). We do not operate servers that store your personal data.

While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@getoutrova.com.

Your Rights

Because we store your data locally on your device and do not maintain user accounts, the most direct way to delete your data is to delete the App from your device, which removes all locally stored information. If you have questions about your data or wish to make a request, contact us at support@getoutrova.com.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection laws. Please contact us to exercise those rights.

Do Not Track

Some browsers and devices transmit "Do Not Track" signals. Because Outrova does not track users across third-party websites or services for advertising purposes, we do not respond differently to Do Not Track signals. The App does not engage in cross-site tracking of any kind.

California Residents (CalOPPA & CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and to request that we delete it. As described in this policy, we do not sell personal information, do not share it with third parties for their direct marketing purposes, and do not collect it beyond what is necessary to operate the App.

California residents may submit requests regarding their personal information by contacting us at support@getoutrova.com. Because the App does not maintain user accounts and stores data locally on your device, the most effective way to delete your data is to delete the App itself.

We do not have actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
